Wednesday Evening - Keyforge Chainbound Events 7pm

The first age of KeyForge Organized Play, known as the Dawn of Discovery is over and we have now entered the Time of Triumph!

With the dawning of this new age, Chains and power levels become more important. Each time you play in a chainbound event, your successes and losses will be tracked and will earn your deck chains which will affect it in future events, as well as a power level.

Our Chainbound events are every Wednsday evening, the first round will start at 7pm, please arrive around 15-20 minutes early to get registered.

As well as weekly events on Wednesday evening, we will have Open play days every Saturday from 3-11 where you can test out decks, and try different formats.
Finally we will run a larger monthly tournament with extra prizes including playmats and Metal keys.

Keyforge tournament rules

Entry to the weekly tournaments will be £10 for Sealed events, £2 for Archon events

Formats and Variants

There are two formats: Archon and Sealed.

In the Archon format, you choose the deck or decks you bring to an event.
In the Sealed format, you open one or more decks at the event and play with no advance knowledge of the deck's strengths and weaknesses.

Simultaneously, each of the game's variants offers a slightly different take on the value of your deck or decks, and many of these variants can be applied to either the Archon or Sealed format.

In the Reversal variant (also known as "Best of the Worst"), you and your opponent swap decks and play. This variant works because the algorithm behind deck creation ensures that every deck is playable. It can be illuminating because even if you lose, your deck wins, and you might learn how to play it better.

In the Auction variant, players place their decks into a common pool before the event and bid chains for the decks of their choice. You might see one deck that's clearly better than the others, but how many turns will you be willing to deprive yourself of cards in order to play that deck?

In the Adaptive variant, you and your opponent play best two out of three. Game one, you use your deck. Game two, you use your opponent's deck. If there's a third game, you bid chains for the deck that won the previous two games.

In the Survival variant, you start with a number of decks (at a smaller event, this would typically be two) and play in normal tournament rounds… except that if you lose with a deck, that deck is eliminated, and you cannot play it again. In order to stay in the tournament, you need at least one deck to survive!

In the Triad variant, you and your opponent each bring three decks to a best-two-of-three match, then choose one of your opponent's decks to eliminate. To win the match, you must win with both of your two remaining decks.

FYI, we will be playing at Relaxed Tier:
Tournaments at this level are welcoming to all players, regardless of experience level. Players are encouraged to help each other improve and learn, so long as it does not significantly disrupt the game. The focus is on creating a fun and friendly environment. The Relaxed Tier is used for Store Championship events.

On the 5th December, we will run a Sealed Auction format.

The decks to be played will be removed from the box, but not from the plastic wrap so that ONLY the Archon name and Houses can be seen. Player will bid chains for the deck they want to own and play.
The tournament will then be run as single game swiss.
The time limit for a round is 45 minutes.

Re: Wednesday Evening - Keyforge Chainbound Events 7pm

I have not been able to get confirmation about when we can start doing Chainbound events. If it is available, then the event on 23rd January WILL be chainbound.

The format will be just straight up Archon Swiss single round, with a 45 min time limit.

Hopefully the new prize packs will have arrived too smile

Re: Wednesday Evening - Keyforge Chainbound Events 7pm

The 30th January will be Archon Survival

It will be single survival, unless there are fewer than 8 players, in which case we will make it double survival.
45 min time limit.

Apologies, due to the new software not being able to handle survival mode yet, this got changed to Swiss, and the next two events have been altered to be compatible with the software too...
